Mr. Mazza is an associate at Butz Dunn & DeSantis. His areas of practice include complex civil litigation, including commercial litigation, employment litigation, intellectual property litigation, and professional liability.

Representative Matters

  • Assisted in the defense of a municipality in a multi-million dollar public works matter, centering on inverse condemnation and dangerous conditions of public property.
  • Represented the interests of a multi-national corporation in a Foreign Corrupt Practices Act federal investigation.
  • Won a judgment for a Canadian company against a California business for breach of contract.
  • Defended the interests of a national restaurant chain regarding Americans With Disabilities Act lawsuit.
  • Assisted with defense of major Taiwanese company regarding trade secret dispute.
  • Assisted with defense and counter suit for financial advisor group regarding breach of contract, unfair termination, and trade secret issues.
  • Worked to obtain a favorable settlement agreement for job placement company regarding trade secret dispute.
  • Co-authored amicus curiae brief to the California Court of Appeal arguing home schooling issues under the California Constitution.
  • Co-authored amicus curiae brief to United States Supreme Court regarding parents’ rights in child protective services matters.
  • Co-authored Sri Lankan peace agreement and handbook outlining how to bring parties to the negotiating table.

Education

Mr. Mazza completed his undergraduate degrees in Political Science and Managerial Studies at Rice University in 2003. In 2006, he received his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center, where he served as a Senior Articles Editor for the Houston Journal of International Law, and worked as a research assistant for Marcilynn Burke (who now serves as Deputy Director of the Bureau of Land Management). Mr. Mazza is a member of the Order of the Coif.
